Client Manager

As a Client Manager you will be responsible for managing a portfolio clients and promoting them to their target audiences. An influencer of public opinion, you will be the key to shaping your client’s reputation and profile.


The day-to-day

  • Managing a portfolio of clients’ PR accounts
  • Providing strategic counsel to clients to aid their objectives
  • Building relationships with key stakeholder contacts
  • Liaising with clients on areas impacting their business and proposing solutions
  • Dealing with a range of stakeholders
  • Briefing clients and updating them on campaigns
  • Analysing impact of campaigns and providing written reports
  • Monitoring all topics of interest to clients


Key responsibilities

  • Daily point of contact for the client
  • Managing the needs of the client and their accounts
  • Contributing to internal daily meetings, and liaising and updating clients
  • Developing integrated campaigns
  • Keeping abreast of current public policy developments
  • Building stakeholder contacts
  • Developing news angles, stories and pitches to further the client’s objectives
  • Fulfilling the client’s key performance indicators and growing accounts
  • Being involved in pitching for new business and developing PR proposals
  • Managing and mentoring junior members of staff

Key skills

  • Strong communication skills – both presentation, verbal and written
  • A passion for current affairs
  • Flair for creativity, strategic thinking and innovation
  • Strong copywriting skills
  • Commercially aware and business savvy
  • Solid project management skills with an ability to manage multiple projects and portfolios
  • Service focused


Qualifications

Graduates with a relevant degree in arts, law, journalism or public relations.

Work experience in related fields including politics, law, current affairs, or journalism.


Relevant experience

  • 3-5 years experience in a similar role
  • Agency experience is preferred
  • Strong communication with excellent presentation and data analysis capabilities

Client Executive

As a Client Executive you will be responsible for working across a portfolio of clients.


The day-to-day

  • Public affairs monitoring and research
  • Providing analysis to the PA team on political developments
  • Managing outreach to the political system and media
  • Drafting press releases / content eg ministerial letters etc
  • Working with our digital team to develop compelling content
  • Working with polling companies, economists and other research organisations


Key responsibilities

  • Implementing effective client programmes
  • Ensuring continued success of client initiatives
  • Managing stakeholders
  • Maintaining positive working relations with clients through regular communication, meetings and reporting


Key skills

  • Excellent writing and research skills
  • A strong understanding and interest in the Irish political system and media
  • A self-starter who has great initiative, can give clear insights with an interest in learning and developing his/her skills in a busy and fast-moving working environment
  • An analytical mind with an ability to cut through information and find what really matters to clients
  • Good organisational and project management skills


Qualifications

Graduates with relevant degrees in the arts, law, media or public relations are desirable.

Work experience in related fields including politics, law, current affairs, or journalism.


Relevant experience

  • Previous experience working in the media, the Oireachtas, for a political party, at a think tank or a similar organisation
  • Campaign experience and/or experience working in public affairs – either at an agency or in-house

Graduate Programme

Rockwood Public Affairs is currently looking for applicants for its graduate programme. We are seeking intellectually curious, ambitious and driven graduates who want a career in strategic communications, public affairs and public relations. In return, we offer you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in our office, developing your skills across a range of services we provide, including strategic consulting, political and regulatory advice, reputation management, crisis communications and campaigning. Successful applicants will work with a broad range of clients – multinational companies and leading trade associations.

This will be a six-month paid graduate placement programme with the expectation that if you perform that you will be offered a full-time Client Executive position.


What we are looking for

  • Graduates with a minimum of 2.1 postgraduate qualification in a relevant field
  • Ideally, you will have studied communications, politics, international relations, public affairs or public relations
  • Excellent writing and research skills
  • Knowledge of social media channels
  • A genuine desire to work in public relations and public affairs
  • Self-starters who have great initiative and can give clear insights
  • A creative approach and good team player
  • You must have the right to work in Ireland.
