Ferghal Blaney
Senior Adviser
Ferghal Blaney has previously worked as a Special Adviser in Government, where he advised the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, the Minister of State with Special Responsibility for International and Road Transport and Logistics at the Department of Transport, and the Minister of State at the Environment, Climate and Communications.
In these roles, Ferghal advised on media strategy and public policy, leading engagement with key internal and external stakeholders – including Ministers, Secretaries General, senior civil servants, business leaders, representative bodies, and members of the Oireachtas.
Before entering Government, Ferghal built a distinguished career in Irish media, and was an award-winning journalist, and columnist. He held senior editorial roles across a range of national titles, covering politics, health, and consumer affairs across both print and digital platforms.
A proud Galway native, Ferghal is never shy about backing his home county’s teams, still plays a bit of sport himself, and is always encouraging others to discover the rich cultural offerings of Galway city and county!
